A cozy B&B inside the medieval walls :
Antica Casa Naldi
Antica Casa Naldi is an old charming home nestled in the heart of the beautiful medieval village of Montecarlo. Comfortable and cozy is the ideal place to discover history, culture and beautiful natural riches of Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Tuscany ... throughout.
Montecarlo is located at 162 m above sea level, on a hilltop between Lucca and the Valdinievole overlooking the surrounding plains. The hill of Montecarlo is cultivated with
vines and olive trees, and it produces a high quality oil and excellent DOC wine, initially considered that only the white wine, but now also the red one.
Its territory is crossed by the Wine Route of the Hills of Lucca and Montecarlo, tourist wine route established in 1999 and recently named
"Road of wine and oil of Lucca, Montecarlo and Versilia."
The village was called Montecarlo in honor of Prince Charles, son of King John of Bohemia, the liberator of Lucca Pisa occupation. The prince became Emperor under the name of Charles IV, was several times in Montecarlo dealing with the fortification of the fortress that proved to be a strategic garrison during the wars between Lucca, Pisa and Florence in the fourteenth century .
The historic center, built in 1333, is well preserved and still surrounded by the beautiful walls; from all the 14th century gates remain the Porta Fiorentina to the east, the Porticciola at ovest to direction of Lucca, while the Porta Nuova in the south was reopened at the end of the 16th century.
B&B Antica Casa Naldi is situated close to the walls and in the centre of the medieval village Montecarlo and was built on the foundations of a fourteenth’s century building. In the Tavern you can still breath medieval air.
After extensive renovations the owners have maintained as much as possible the original appearance of the father's house, preserving the terracotta floors, wooden beams, stone walls, and traditional decor.

The beautiful kitchen with an ancient stone sink and its big fireplace, once the meeting place of the family Naldi, is now available for guests to prepare breakfast and other meals.
From the kitchen through a small terrace you access a private part of the walls of the village with magnificent views over the Valdinievole.
The spacious bedrooms are all different, bright and welcoming.
Each is named after a spice (vanilla, juniper, cinnamon ...) to remind the chemist or better the pharmacist of the village having his laboratory in the house until the beginning of nineteenth century.
Enjoy your holidays with us.
